From: ASACP ASACP Named to 2008 Associations
Advance America Honor Roll
Los Angeles, CA (January 7, 2008) – The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) has been named to the 2008 Associations Advance America Honor Roll, a national awards competition sponsored by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and The Center for Association Leadership, Washington, DC ASACP received the award for its RTA “Restricted To Adults” website label which was developed out of a need for an easy to use and internationally recognized label that designates content for adults only. The RTA label is a unique string of “meta data” which can easily be inserted into the computer code of any website. Parental filtering software recognizes the tag and prevents children from viewing age-inappropriate material. The RTA label is free and universally available. ASACP launched RTA in November 2006 and it now has over four million link-ins. Now in its 18th year, the prestigious Associations Advance America Awards program recognizes associations that propel America forward – with innovative projects in education, skills training, standard setting, business and social innovation, knowledge creation, citizenship, and community service. Although association activities have a powerful impact on everyday life, they often go unnoticed by the general public and even sometimes by its own members. “ASACP’s program truly embodies the spirit of the Associations Advance America campaign. It is an honor and an inspiration to showcase this activity as an example of the many contributions associations are making to Advance American society,” remarked Associations Advance American Committee Chair Matthew D’Uva, CAE, President of SOCAP International. “Only 15 programs were named to the honor roll putting ASACP and RTA among some elite company,” stated Executive Director Joan Irvine. “We are very honored to receive this award and grateful to everyone who has made this possible by choosing to label with RTA.” Founded in 1996, the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating child pornography from the Internet. ASACP battles child pornography through its CP reporting hotline, and by organizing the efforts of the online adult industry to combat the heinous crime of child sexual abuse. ASACP also works to help parents prevent children from viewing age-inappropriate material online. For more information, go to www.asacp.org. |
