Favicon / Favicon.ico = a good idea for a site to have their own?

I think favicons are a must for any site you're seriously promoting. IMO they're a waste of time on freesites and such, but for a TGP site, Paysite, Link List etc I think they enhance branding and make your bookmark stand out in someone's favorites folder.

I get mine for $10 each from www.intersmart.com The guy does good work for a good price, and for the $10 I'd rather pay him to do it than mess with doing them myself.

Just as Madmax said, they are excellent for branding. I open my bookmarks and can quickly find Adult-List, Cleo's, Link-O-Rama, Hoes, JK's, Mega Porn, and Smut Gremlins because of their fav icons. I don't even have to read the text bookmark anymore for those folks when I submit. Visual branding is powerful marketing.

Nice link Max.|waves|

I have them on LOR & we have them in here, but damn if they ever stay in my favorites for more than a day or so - all of a sudden everything got the little "E" logo next to it :(

Seems like you should have your answer by now since you posted this on 14 different boards. I do think that may be a new record.

Here is a good page on making them.

Not that this thread is about how to make them.

That is because they are stored in the 'Temp Internet Files' and I suspect you have a low setting.

What I do is go to a site I want to keep a favicon for and type in the address bar http://www.thesite.com/favicon.ico
If they have one that is the place it is going to be (in the root)
Then simply save the graphic to a folder on your HD.
In the properties of the favourite (Right Click/Properties) you have the option of changing the icon used.
Browse to the location you are now saving your favicons and Hey Presto!! no more E's :D
