Ok, I admit it, I'm having withdraws and I don’t care, I'm starting this thread.
“Bledsoe to replace Testaverde as starter”

I still say it's a mistake, but then they fucked themselves when they let Carter go so why not make it worse.
Has the game passed Tuna? His former assistant is better then Tuna ever was IMHO....

This may be known as the year of the "Cap cuts", I saw a list of all stars that are all expected to be cut due to the cap, and it looked like the starting list of an all star team.
Titians are going to suffer the most, McNair will be the only one standing after it’s over.

yeah I am having withdrawals too since the end of the Pro Bowl... the NFL is going the way of the NBA and MLB where every team is going to be really different every couple of years (the NBA is like one big pick up game nowdays) but it really doesn't matter though as Brett will come back, the Packers will decide to play all 11 guys on defense instead of just 5, and the Lombardi trophy will be right back where it belongs in Green Bay :D (and since I live here I gues I should say GO CARDINALS, just for shits and giggles, although a winning season would be nice every 10 years or so) and the Bills are gonna start Losman? gonna be a LONG season for GG |jester|

Letting Carter go was a HUGE mistake!!!! Bledsoe is a decent move as he is better than Testeverde at this point but ONLY if they have a rookie or draft pick they want to learn for a year or two then move into the starting position.

I'm actually worried about My Patriots this year
2 coordinators gone, a few free agents and Tedy Bruschi is all done after having a stroke right after the pro bowl :-(
MLB was already an old postition for them with Bruschi being the youngest inside at 31

How bad off is Bruschi? I haven’t seen that much news on him which is odd since he was a big part of that D and having a stroke at his age I would think ESPN would be all over it.

Pats should still be very competitive but those coordinators were big for Belicheck. The Bills will have a tough first half with Losman but I think he is a good QB overall, probably have the same kind of season as the last year.
And why did Bruschi have a stroke at his age?(steroids)
Tennesee is paying for all the good years but a good organization would have made changes while it was happening.
The Raiders signed Porter, and I thought they were going to go after Moss. Fuck Al Davis is the biggest dickhead owner in all pro sports.

Good thing we're still only 24M under the cap and can't find a safety worth anything. :(

New stadiums suck!!!!!
of course I'm only saying that because the Patriots raised my prices again!!
when I first bought my seats they were $13.00 per seat per game, you paid for pre season so it was 10 games $260.00 and I could make payments
now its $90 per seat per game for $1800.00 (plus "handling" charges of course) the bill comes 3/7 and I have to have all of it in by 3/31
and these are cheap end zone seats, nothing spectacular
screw Bob Kraft and the Patriots
OK I'm done with my rant now and off to mail my check :D

MN has been trying for new stadium for 3+ years now.
Doesn't look like it will happen this year.
But the gophers (U of MN) probably will, because it will be 80+% will come from private donations.
I'm all for tax brakes for businesses, but the NFL or any other sports team models, it simply doesn't make sense as NO outside money is coming in.
Assuming a 600 million stadium, and tax payers at 40% (most recent proposal), 240 million that we get to pay for.
A new stadium does NOT bring in new money for the state that builds them. It simply moves it around the state, and more than likely moves the money out of state.
Indy and Mpls domes aren't that old.
I'm all for updating though!
Green Bay - Chicago etc...

Torn Rose
03-21-2005, 05:36 PM
Actually that’s not true in the case of Indy.
With all the conventions and NCAA final 4 (3 - 4 in the next 10 years) Indy will be hosting it will bring outside $ to Indy, and with a new Stadium they can now try and get the Super Bowl played in Indy since the RCA is too small for the Super Bowl requirements.
RCA was small when they built it, it's over 21 years old and the 2nd smallest in the NFL and not built for today’s ticket buying fan, and renovation would be useless as it still would not allow more then 56,000 fans into a game, with this new stadium it will be 66,000+ and have luxury seating which is where the real $ is made.
There was a big stink over what you are saying in regards to the Fieldhouse in Indy five years ago, everyone bitched it would not make $ and was a waste, but since they built it they have made huge $ and is considered one of the best venues in the nation now.
Indy is going out of its way to be the sports capital of the world, they have the NCAA, 500, Colts, and Pacers and host F1, NASCAR, and so many other sporting events that could be anywhere else, but they come to Indy since they have a great reputation of being well organized and up to date host.
This is needed to keep that tradition going.

We've hosted the Super Bowl, NCAA tourneys and everything else.
It's nice biz for a week or so, but then nothing.
7 and counting bars and restaurants have closed because of No NHL in St Paul. (unemployed - nearing 300 - Thanks Mr Coleman you ass!)
I'd spend billions promoting the U of M research department that returns to MN on average 10:1 :D
Dell (as in computers) is building in North Carolina. They will have more full time jobs there in 1 year than a stadium will have in 20 years of part time jobs.
I'm not against sports.. god knows how many bb games I've watched this year. But if the T-wolves folded camp, no biggy, there's tv.
I think fan loyalty was lost many years ago with free agency.
You may be correct, Indy may be different.
Up here, this isn't a destination on many maps for sports, just the megamall.

Madden '06 previews look real good, I seem to get it every other year and this is the year I'm due.

Ramster since you are so far up north, you may not know much of the antics of Winslow, he is the son of a Hall of Famer and when he was at Miami I picked him as the Heisman winner early, since he made not big plays, but huge plays.
Then he started talking to the press which began his downfall and after a game in which they won, he was all pissed off and running his mouth and said he is a solider and that it is a war zone out there and he’s for real and will kill anyone who gets in his way, this was a few weeks after Pat Tillman was killed.
He refused to apologize, and his plays went from big time to “get that guy off the field, he’s in the way” all the time while running his mouth and blaming everyone from the press to the coach to the qb, never once himself for the fumbles and drops.
Now at Cleveland he is doing the same shit, makes one or 2 good plays and then gets hurt and runs his mouth… This guy is what is wrong with sports, when they think they are bigger then the sport itself.

Seems like he is your typical sports player which is sad. :(
It's doubtful that he will lose the entire 6mil. The Browns are actually in a fairly sticky place, here. They can't play complete hardball, because there are future free agents to consider. If they take to hard of a line, they may make players reluctant to come here. They also don't want to come off as too soft.
Also, Winslow is still only 21 and will only be 22 when he can come back next year. He probably still has a long and maybe great career ahead of him. IF, he grows up.
Most likely they work on restructuring his contract. Load it with more incentives to offset any monies lost this year.
As for Winslow.... he's just a stupid kid, who I hope will now have the motivation to grow up a little. He really does have all the talent in the world. It would be a shame to see him waste it.

He'll grow up just like Randy Moss and J.R. Rider did.
At least we have KG around! And I'm beginning to really like Tory Hunter from the Twins. He bitched a little bit about his contract, but not to the media.
In response to Trev's comments -
I think you're going to see a lot more Incentives and less Upfront money in the future.
If players aren't smart enough to go to Lloyds of London and get a 10+ million dollar insurance policy against them getting injured, that's their problem.
Who was the pitcher from the Red Sox that got a 13 million bonus for them winning the series?
That's the kind of contracts there should be.
Very low pay during the season, but bonus' for each step in the playoffs.
Incentives can be tricky. He already lost around 9mil worth of 'easy' incentives from his record 40mil contract by breaking his leg on that onside kick at the end of his second game. So he never had a chance to reach any of them.

Incentives like that can be tough in the sports with salary caps. You would have to leave a lot of room in your cap, if half of your roster has significant bonus clauses in their contracts.
He'll grow up just like Randy Moss and J.R. Rider did.
Oh man, I hope not. Not just because I'm a Browns fan, but his father was one of my favorite players back in the day. But, it seems to me like he needs to put his foot of Jrs ass, instead of 'protecting' him.
Incentive clauses are separated into two categories for computing salary cap. Those that are considered "likely to be met" get counted toward this years cap. Those that considered "unlikely to be met" are not. At the end of the season, unmet "likely", and met "unlikley", are tallied up for each team and a debit or credit is applied to the next season's cap. It can get a bit confusing, but it's not half as bad as the mess used by the NBA.

That was Curt Schillling and it won't happen again, it somehow got missed when the Commisioner approved it even though team based incentives are againt the CBA.
You could add incentives for Schilling if he won the MVP or something but not a team based one.

Had he taken the suspension last year he would not have to sit out the 4 games this year and would have had a year to travel/whatever and still be $8 million richer, but since he "retired" he still has 4 games to serve out and odds are the 'phins will hold that judgment over him all year or longer...

Yes it is, and if I'm not mistaken it's a automatic 1 year suspension for refusing, but I could be wrong.
If that is the case then no matter what he would get a year, so refuse it and then you can deny all day long you were stoned.
I read that the "failure to take test" occured before the Whizzinator incindent.
If and when he does return to the NFL, I do hope he realizes that he has a new nickname, |pokefun| "Whizz"

Puh Leas.........
Madden made MNF live again after those dark horrible years of Dennis Miller...
Best comb post Howard is Madden/Micheals.
I like Dennis Miller... in his day job. I agree he was crap on MNF. But Micheals (pushing Bush the whole time... which started when Miller brought politics to MNF, but didn't stop after he left, and only became one sided... ) and Madden were mute time.
Don't get me wrong. The Madden Oakland Raiders were one of my all time favorite teams. I even liked Madden when he first started announcing. But by now, he's just a caricature of himself. An annoying one, at that.
They should have stocked the booth with beer and let Don Meredith and Hank Williams Jr, announce the games..... now THAT would have been interesting. lol
I agree, Madden annoys the hell outta me. He thinks the show is in the booth, not on the field. I'd turn the sound from the TV off and tune to Jack Buck on CBS radio for MNF play-by-play.

Whatever the case, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft is out one championship ring, and President Vladimir Putin of Russia has scooped up some very flashy bling. At a meeting of American business executives and Putin on Saturday in Russia, according to Russian news reports, Kraft showed his 4.94-carat, diamond-encrusted 2005 Super Bowl ring to the Russian president, who, after trying it on, put it in his pocket and left. It was unclear yesterday whether Kraft intended to give Putin the ring. It was just two weeks ago that he presented this year's championship baubles to Patriots players at his Brookline mansion. A Patriots spokesman said yesterday that Kraft was still traveling overseas and could not be reached for comment.

Would you want TO on your team?
No way in hell I would, trade him for a pick and invest his cap $ into a player who wants to play and not cry since he's ONLY making $12 million a year when he agreed to do it last year.
Moss is the same; give me Marvin Harrison or Jerry Rice any day over these 2.

He stinks! I could have caught 90 passes if Moulds was lined up on the other side of me.
OH! Funny little story - at the dinner the other night, all the players were wearing name tags so that you could tell who the not-so-popular players were. Losman had Moulds' name tag on & vice-versa.
Also saw that Losman has a license plate on his Denali that reads "E 80" (Eric Moulds likes to be referred to as "E" & 80 is of course Moulds' number)

Corey Simon is an excellent defensive tackle, I don't like the because I always counted on the Patriots being able to outscore the colts
of course the colts don't seem to fare well here in New England outdoors in the cold now we just need a better record during the season to have that homefield advantage in the playoffs.
GG I heard the Pats invited Peerless in for an interview
