if you're looking for people to trackback your blog and have trackbacking turned on post to this list. I'm hoping to create a master list of blogs that have trackbacking turned on to give everyone an option of going down the list and finding articles worth TB'ing.

Using this list is a great way to create organic linkbacks for your site and a great way to get people linking inwards to your blog.

I attempt to trackback with you but recently 90% of the time, it doesn't show, so i stopped doing that. Maybe it is the software or some kind of error, or you do not approve them. However, i have trackback turned on.

This is a common problem... I have a blog right now with trackbacking turned on and it's not working. We're debugging it now. If it's something simple I'll post about it once we figure it out....

A permalink (or permanent link) is a link to a specific entry inside your blog while a trackback URL is a unique URL associated with a post (or possibly a category) that can receive TrackBack pings.

Thanks you for the explanation. Too bad blogger doesn't have trackbacking (?) built in. I suppose I could use haloscan . . . maybe someone here has some recs?

How many of you have non-adult blogs? Life ramblings, politics, etc?

If so I would be interested in possibly linking back. I just started a blog that is more about life, politics, television etc., and am looking for links.

Since I am new to blogging which is the best way to find other personal blogs that I can use trackbacks on and such?

So, can someone explain a bit more about this trackbacking shit?

I go to, say, Boogie's blog, I go to an entry that I figure I can usefully link to- so there's a trackback link just above the comments entry fields, which takes me to a page like this:
http://www.boogie-blog.com/4th-of-july-weekend.htm

Which I was thinking of linking with my page:
http://blog.360.yahoo.com/buttus_maximus?p=34

(Which is a yahoo360 blog and probably doesn't support trackbacking, but I use it as a test case. I have a new wordpress blog, but it doesn't have a 4th of july entry. )

But, can someone spell out a bit more how a trackback is done?

By putting your trackback url into the trackback field of the posting form. But I have no idea if it worked. I expected to see some sign that the trackback existed.

Can someone show me pages with examples of trackbacks on them?

Ahhhh, I guess the trackback orgy is all ooooovvvvveeeerrrrrrrrrr....

But, I'd still be interested in an answer to my question - how can you tell when a trackback is working and in place?
