hmmm.. fridaynight in the bar I suddenly decided I should stop smoking.. What the hell was I thinking..
Well.. haven't touched a smoke since then.. Wonder how long it will last. Anyone wants to make a guess?

How long did you smoke for? Home many packs a day?
I need to make an educated guess here.
for about 10 years, in the weekends 1 pack a day, during the week 3 packs every 5 days
Well you will small and taste much nicer. :)
I went out with someone who is very attractive this weekend. At least they were attractive until they sat there smoking cigarette after cigarette. I sat there coughing, my nose got all stuffed up, they went from smelling real nice to smelling like a camp fire and when we kissed it was like kissing an ashtray. At the end of the date I have a bad headache from inhaling the second hand smoke since I'm allergic to something in cigarette smoke.
It's too bad because I've known this person for awhile and really like them. :(

Hmmm...then I will say you will quite FOREVER.
Unless you are a weak willed, girly man who has no self control.
I smoked a pack and 1/2 a day for about 12 years. (It was upto a pack and 1/2, I didn;t smoke that much for 12 years. But I did smoke at least a pack a day for about 8 years and then in the end it went up.)
I quit cold Turkey on January 1st, 1999. To date it's saved me almost $10K. Hard to believe.
I do have an occasional cigar when I am at a bar or gambling.

Perfectly put Bizzaro.
Extreme Nate and Myself decided while sitting at Fat Tuesdays in the Bahama's almost 3 months ago that when we got back he would quit smoking (easy pack a day), and I would quit dipping (4 cans a day, so yeah I was hooked). That day we walked in the office and since than we havent turned back.
It's mind over matter, anyone that really wants to quit can quit, Fonz was a cool guy on Happy Days, never bitched out, don't you dare run around with a name like Fonz and even think of looking back not even once.
Over 10 years ago I decided that I had enough of Freebasing after doing it for about five years. Put down the pipe, walked out of the room, and never smoked coke again.
I did want to beat my head into the wall for a few years with cravings and even still to this day sometimes wake up dreaming that I'm Freebasing.
I hear that cigarettes affect the same parts of the brain that coke does.
What a wise decision Fonz, congrats, cigars give me real bad migraines and make me trow up.
Hummmm kiss Cleo...you didn't told me that part, and I was laid on your bed|angry| lol!

Well there you go Fonz if Cleo can quit the snow, you should have no problem with Cigs, give us an update.
Still hanging in there, it's been 6 days now... |roses|
Fonz, well done. :)
Do not be tempted to start again. Once you have given up the first cigarette tastes like shit.
|rasta| <---- stupid habit..... stupid hat too.
Well done Cleo too, it takes a lot of guts to quit coke.
I have to take risperidone twice a day - maybe for the rest of my life. So if you have a choice in the matter - give it up. :)

It is more a matter of seeing where your life is going and making a decision. One day I realized that sitting in a corner naked, paranoid, broke, and dirty with aluminium foil on all the windows to stop the imaginary eyes from looking in wasn't really the direction in life that I wanted to go.
Yeah stay on your medication. I know someone that really should have and didn't. In a drunken psychotic state they picked up a gun and shot me six times. Now that they are sober and medicated they are real sorry for what they did, but a little too late.
Life is about decisions, sometimes it is about not taking something and sometimes it is about realizing that you do need something.

Cleo, thats crazy.....
Fonz you still hanging in there?
Not a big deal, but I since then I've taken up doing all my cooking in a Wok. Not only is it a great healthy way to cook, but when not using it to prepare your daily meals it can be worn like a hat as a stylish bit of fashionable apparel and as an added bonus it keeps out the evil mind rays of our government.
|jester|
Actually you just have to keep things in prospective and not take this wild ride we call life too serious and realize that your perspective on life is just that, your perspective. :)
Now back to wrapping my house and cats in aluminium foil…

when I think back about how easy I would freak out its sort of funny
I was a real die hard smoker
the first day I was a total mess and opearating on a very short fuse
I had to run over to keyfood to pick up some stuff for a barbq
and these two old ladies where standing in the doorway yappin
they were blovkin the whole doorway
so i waited for around 10 sec
then said
Hey you dum old cunt
can you please get the fuck out of my way

Nice thread. Glad to see so many people saving their lungs, and mine as well. Keep it up!
Cleo....Thats incredible. I'd have never thought any of that happened to you after meeting you. You seem like a new age woman who wouldn't touch anything that has harmful effects with a 10 foot poll!
ShermsShack, I come from a time when things were much different. In the seventies, when I was a teenager, drugs were good and were thought to expand your mind, or something like that anyway.
In reality we all ended up fucked up on drugs and then came the excess of the eighties. It didn't help that I lived in south Florida and cocaine was literally falling from the sky and washing up on the beaches in mass. Our economy was coca driven, we had machine gun fights in the shopping malls and then someone discovered that if you mix one third baking soda to two thirds cocaine, dissolve in water and nuke until it boils you get Freebass which can be vaporized and inhaled using a blow torch and a pyrex pipe.
Going out for the evening meant big hair, big shoulder pads, big fake nails, and your Super Cub torch and pipe with lots of rocks. We would all be on the dance floor freebassing and dancing, it was everywhere.
Looking back on it now it's like what the fuck were we thinking, but it was the mind set of the times.
I'm sure in the not to distant future cigarette smoking would be looked on the same way.

its really amazing what cigerettes do to you
beside the heart risk and cancer
the way they mess up your head
you start thinking I can have one.
one a day wont hurt me.
I will just have one with my coffee.
I will just be a social smoker.
if you could be a social smoker you wouldnt be reasoning out a way to have a smoke
22 years I never went anywhere without a pack of those stupid white sticks
it could be cold and raining at 3 am if I ran out of smokes I would get out of a warm bed and go buy a pack
quitin was real hard for me
the hardest thing I ever did

I started rolling my own about 3 years ago. Thought it would help me cut down, ya know, smoke only after food, sex, that type of thing. Unfortunatly I can now roll a cigerette faster than a rabbit gets fucked.

Good luck Fonz. I'm going on about 5 months without a smoke. I've a bit more plump then I was 5 months ago but I'm glad I quit.
