picture vs movie galleries

what do you guys see more success with picture galleries or movie clips / tube clip galleries?

I always think that if they get a few short clips to download then they'll be happy with the action in that and be less likely to sign up for a membership.

I've had much better results with video galleries on my free sites.

About 90% of my signups are from video gallery sites. That's about all I'm doing these now.

Thanks guys, is there any trick to it such as not showing much penetration/action in the clips to tempt them to sign up or is that more likely to just make them move on to a different gallery?

Start building sites and see what works best. Everyones marketing strategy is different. What works for me may not work for you.

I have a question. Think it doesn't contradict this threed. Movie galleries "eat" much more bandwidth than pic galleries, but many sponsors now give embeddable clips as promo. Is it possible to use them on free sites gallery pages? Or owners prefer "hand-cut" video sets?

I've done pic galleries, are doing pic galleries and don't even know how to build a decent video gallery. Still works for me though :)

I just recently started using movie clips on sites so I can’t really say if I think they are better than pics but I have found them more easy to use. Some sponsers already have them precut to 15 or 20 sec clips. So you only have to deal with 3 or 4 clips per page as compared to 10 or 12 pics per page. Lately I’ve been trying to spread my effort between the two.

If by embeddable you mean your not hosting it on your server then it might be an issue at some places you submit.
