I have had a wonderful morning. I picked up a nasty browser hijacker on my machine last night. It took me 5 hours this morning to figure out how to clean this damn thing off my computer. I wish i could be locked in a room for 5 minutes with the moron who made that trojan. you see you cant reason with a moron but a moron understands pain.
sorry if this post bothers anyone i just needed to vent my anger.

Fred I can understand your frustration. |sad|

And I agree with your opinion on how best to resolve the situation with the perpetrator/creator. :D

Yup, recently had the pleasure myself. My oldest son used my laptop to play a game called runescape.........no problem so far, but then he decided it sure would be the niftiest thing in the world to visit some 'runescapes clans' websites. Got a nasty little toolbar, hijacker, adware pretty much everything shitty you can get from one of those was on my system. Took me several hours and got rid of almost all the nasties, but still have crap in my programs list that will not uninstall. I cant even delete the things
gggggrrrrrrr
how could this ever be effective marketing???

Don't forget that system restore can be your best friend is situations like this! It won't delete the damn things but it will restore your registry (which contains the pointers to the activex and browser helpers, home and search pages). Then run your spyware killers and you're pretty much home free.
