Internext - Booze, Drugs & Nakedness - So What?
There's been a lot of buzz around the boards & resource sites about how the convention in Miami was nothing but a big booze filled drug induced sex orgy. This was my 8th Internext & nothing I saw or heard about surprised me at all. Why? Because this past convention was pretty much like every other convention that I've been to.
My 1st trip to Vegas was Jan 1999 at the Monte Carlo. I knew a handful of people in the business and seeing as I had just quit my other job, I was still rather new to things. I remember going to the a party & seeing 2 girls spraying whip cream all over each other & licking it off right at the bar. I thought this was pretty cool! The next night we were invited to a porn shoot in one of the suites that featured Ron Jeremy - guess what we got to see.....people having sex!
The next year, we went to a fetish party at a mansion in the area & got to see a shitload of bondage, whipping, fisting & whatnot. 1st time I'd ever seen any of that stuff live & in person! We even ran into one of the girls back at the hotel, where she decided to take off all her clothes & show us the marks on her body. She was proud! (she was plastered too, but she was proud none the less)
I remember walking into a bathroom during a party in New Orleans in 2000 & seeing someone getting a hummer in one of the stalls. Good for him! My friend got a lap dance at one of the parties & the chair he was on broke & him & the 2 girls went tumbling to the floor. Hysterical!
Vegas 2001 I got to eat sushi off a few naked chicks - interesting, but not very tasty. We also had a suite party that year that I'm not even going to get into ;-)
I'd tell you about adventures at other shows, but I think you get the idea.
This year was pretty tame in my eyes. I've done all the big mega party things & to be quite honest, they bore me for the most part - who needs the hassle of fighting your way to the bar to get a drink, only to realize you need to piss, then wait in line there & get done, only to realize you need another drink...etc. I'd rather have a few friends & colleagues to my room for a lot of cocktails & let the good times roll!
So, to finally get to the point of all this - WHAT THE FUCK DID SOME OF YOU EXPECT!! Business is done in 3 places at the convention - on the show floor, in your room or when you get home to your computer. I partied 3 straight days in Miami, but I did manage to get some business started & wrapped up when I got home. Some of you may have noticed that
CJ Bucks - as well as
Sextronix - are now advertising on the board (yes, that was a cheap plug, but I like both of their programs because they make me money outside of this site) I got to meet a lot of board members as well as a lot of people that I do business with on a daily basis, I got to pretend my dick was really big by donating the prizes to the
ARS - party. I got to have a shitload of fun.
Bottom line - this year was no different than any other year - just because it was bitched about by more people doesn't mean that all the events you heard or saw never happened at previous shows. We're in the porn business people - if you want nice pleasant social events, stay home & host your own :)
Oh yeah - one other thing - there's a thread on another board that links to some pics from the 1st convention in Florida. The pics show a few of the fathers of this business sitting around, smoking cigars, having a few beers & enjoying a nice peaceful evening. One of the people that was at that particular party was Jim. Jim told me that they must have forgotten to post the pictures from about an hour later when the hotel asked a lot of people to leave for nudity & lewdness on a balcony get together :)
